Gregg Bissonette on „Musical Drumming In Different Styles“ Idea and concept: I wanted to do a DVD that really showed drummers how to play musically and WITH other musicians. I feel this is the most important element in what in the DVD I describe as the 3 part equation! I did not want to go into
great detail about stick grip or foot technique (... although I do cover
these topics in a different way). In a way, I wanted to teach drummers in 4 hours and 20 minutes, things that it took a lifetime of playing in bands and doing recording sessions to learn. Pre-production and preperation: I am very blessed to have
many great companies (Mapex drums, Zildjian cymbals, dw pedals, Remo
drumheads, Vic Firth sticks, LP percussion, Shure Microphones) that sponsors
me every year (especially in the fall) doing lots of drum clinics around the
world. Doing these clinics for many years have helped me greatly in
organizing many of the topics and things I wanted to cover and – very
important! – how to cover them. During those clinics I got to road test them
a lot in front of people all over the world and learn that way what works –
and what does not. I was able to pull songs
that my brother Matt wrote off my 2 solo CDs („Submarine“ on Favored Nations
Records, and „Gregg Bissonette“ on Mascot Records in Europe), and I also
wrote 2 big band pieces with Mark Adam Watkins. The idea was to use LOTS of
different musical styles and grooves, fills, solo ideas, concepts, etc. For
more information on my CDs „Submarine“ and „Gregg Bissonette“ please visit
my website www.greggbissonette.com ... and some latest news: My brother Matt and I are about to start rehearsals for a Ringo Starr promo US tour in June in support of Ringo’s new CD „Choose Love“! We are doing lots of US-TV-shows like „Late Night With David Letterman“ etc., and we will also record a Live Concert DVD, where Ringo and I will play some double drums!!! This is all VERY exciting to us!
